John 20:24-25
“Unless I see the nail marks in His hands………..”
Throughout the year of pandemic when we very much limited ourselves
as to where we went…….one place I missed was the nail salon…….my
hands began to look atrocious between no professional manicures
(I attempted! YUK!) and the dryness the constant hand sanitizer
caused..…hands can tell a story and I thought my hands were telling a
horror story!
Jesus hands say something about Him, too. I can only imagine they
were dry, probably tanned and maybe calloused.
But we know this for sure, His hands were open on Calvary, pierced on
the cross to pay for MY sins.
We know three days later, his glorified body still bore the marks of
crucifixion.
Jesus extends his nail scarred hands to us today. To lift us up, comfort
us, assure us, and rejoice with us as we celebrate.
OURS are the hands he uses to offer a pat on the back or a hug of
comfort.
Reach out your hands to serve, to pray, to clap in praise…
BEAUTFUL hands-His and ours!
Jesus,
Thank you for the wounds in your hands, now healed, and the beauty
your grace has brough into my life.
Amen
