June 30 2020

Greetings, UMC Colleagues!

We hope this note finds you well in the midst of the COVID-19 virus! As you begin planning for the year ahead, we invite you to make plans to join us for 2020 Fall Course of Study (COS). Our fall program sessions for the September and November timeframes will be fully online. This means asynchronous instruction in Sakai and synchronous instruction in Zoom classes. The format for our spring sessions is yet to be determined.

If you have completed the Course of Study, we would be grateful if you would share this information with your colleagues who continue in their training.

Duke Divinity School’s Course of Study programs offer community formed by online worship, fellowship, and support. This fall, we are offering a first year, second year, fourth year, and advanced course in September Session I and in November Session II.

The details for our spring sessions is yet to be determined. However, the course offerings will include a first year, second year, fourth year, and advanced course. We will also offer a few third year courses.

Attached is the current schedule, which includes the synchronous Zoom class periods to assist in your decision making process during registration. Each basic course will have 5 weeks of instruction; 2 hours each week of asynchronous instruction and 2 hours each week of synchronous instruction. Each advanced course will have 6 weeks of instruction. A basic course requires 20 contact hours to complete one course and an advanced course requires 25 contact hours to complete one course.

We will work as quickly as possible to update our Weekend COS webpage following this email notice. Additional program information, the course schedule, and link to enroll for Session I will be on our Weekend COS webpage once it is updated. You will find additional general information there as well. Registration links for all other sessions will be added when they are available.

2020 Fall COS – Session I (traditionally titled, Weekend COS) registration is now open; the link to register is just below. You will receive an email notice and separate link when Session II registration is open.
