I am positive everyone is taking advantage of our “quarantine time” to reflect on what we are to do to serve others as this pandemic weakens.  We. the Senatobia District are appealing to our churches that the UMCOR Christmas Shoe Boxes be on your list of outreach projects.  Participants in past years, are aware, it is like the Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child (OCC), except the list of items is a bit more structured. Some churches are packing both UMCOR & OCC. We encourage UMCOR in support of our Methodist missionaries. (List is attached)
UMCOR provides boxes at NO charge. Shipping costs to get boxes to our missionaries is $ 5.00. Deadline of arrival for boxes to UMCOR disaster warehouse is sometime in September.
Our United Methodist Missionaries distribute to children in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, and Dominion Republic to Third World Children. I wish everyone could see the smile on the children’s faces. Along with the goodies, a Spanish Christian Christmas coloring is placed in each box enabling us to share the story of Christ’s birth. We supply a copy for you to print at your local level.
Participation was PHENOMINAL for 2019.THANK YOU! We challenge your congregations to a commitment of a minimum of 25 boxes (a case). Some make it a VBS project. Some do an individual project. Most UMW groups have participated.
Sardis UMC will have boxes.  The progression of this project has been delegated by Senatobia District/Cheryl Denley.  When completed, boxes should be delivered to Pleasant Hill UMC in Olive Branch. Pleasant Hill arranges transportation to Decatur, Al Disaster Center. All boxes are required to be in Decatur by Sept 3rd. It is advised that all boxes be delivered to Pleasant Hill around mid- August.
Contact me, Iris Holloway at 601-214-1154 or hollowayiris@bellsouth.net to discuss the number of boxes for your church commitment. We will arrange for pickup or delivery of flat boxes.    NEW Church participants, CALL ME. We can discuss details. Timing is perfect to get this project moving.
Our THANKS to everyone for your powerful commitments. We ask for this continued support.  Thru your commitment to these Christmas boxes the United Methodist missionaries touch children’s lives in a way they have never been touched before. To share God’s Love.
MY THANKS!!  Call me at 601-214-1154.
